6 Fishermen in West Lombok Successfully Rescued After Being Stranded at Sea
WEST LOMBOK - A joint SAR team evacuated six fishermen who had an accident when their boat capsized in the northern waters of Gili Rengit, Pelangan Village, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province.
"All the victims were successfully evacuated in a safe condition," said the Head of the Operations and Standby Section of the Mataram SAR Office, Bustanil, in Mataram, Antara, Monday, February 16.
Bustanil explained that the evacuation was carried out after his party received a report on Monday afternoon.
After receiving the report, SAR personnel were immediately deployed to the scene. The rescue team arrived at the coordinates sent by one of the victims.
The evacuation process began at around 17.20 WITA by moving the victims to the Rigid Buoyancy Boat (RBB).
30 minutes later, at 17.50 WITA, all the victims were on the RBB and were immediately transported to Lembar Port.
During the rescue process, the six victims were tossed around in the ocean. However, all of them were found in a safe condition.
Bustanil added, after receiving the initial report, his party deployed the Mataram Rescue Boat 220 crew and a rescue team using RBB. At 18.40 WITA, the joint SAR team arrived at Lembar Port with all the victims in a safe condition.
It is known that the six victims are residents of East Sekotong Village, Lembar District, West Lombok Regency. This SAR operation involves the Mataram SAR Office Rescue Team, the crew of Rescue Boat 220 Mataram, the NTB Police Polair, and local fishermen.
Bustanil appealed to the public to always increase vigilance when carrying out activities at sea to avoid similar incidents.
