From Hambalang, Prabowo Matangkan Position to Offer Indonesia with America

BOGOR - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia must have a strong and measured bargaining position in every international negotiation.

The affirmation was conveyed when the President summoned a number of ministers in the field of economy to his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, Sunday, February 15. The meeting focused on coordinating national strategies in dealing with dynamics and global economic negotiations.

The President emphasized that in every negotiation, including with major trading partners such as the United States, Indonesia must not be in a reactive position. All negotiation steps must be prepared thoroughly, data-based, and take into account the short- and long-term impacts on the national economy.

According to him, a strong bargaining position can only be built through a solid domestic industry foundation, increased productivity, and consistency in economic policies. Therefore, he asked ministers to ensure that every policy taken is truly beneficial and protects national interests.

"The President emphasized that every step taken in international negotiations must provide the best benefits for the community and strengthen the national economic structure," said an official statement quoted on Monday, February 16.

The President also reminded that economic diplomacy is not just about trade agreements, but part of a major strategy to strengthen Indonesia's competitiveness in the face of increasingly tight global competition. With a strong and measured bargaining position, Indonesia is expected to be able to secure its interests while expanding opportunities for strategic cooperation at the international level.
