Flooding as High as 150 Centimeters in Several Semarang Housing

SEMARANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Semarang City, Central Java, reported that a number of settlements in the area were flooded due to the overflow of the Babon River due to heavy rains in the upper region.

Head of the Semarang City BPBD, Endro P Martanto, said that the flood inundated a number of settlements, namely the Argo Residence, Grand Batik Semarang, and Grand Permata Tembalang, Dinar Indah Housing, and the RW 1 area of Rowosari Village.

"The height of the flood was monitored up to 150 cm, sedada adults. It was reported on Monday at 02.00 WIB. Thank God it has started to recede, some are 20-30 cm," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, February 16.

He explained that the flood was caused by heavy rain with moderate and high intensity in the Semarang City area.

"The drainage system is not able to accommodate the flow of rainwater, which makes the water flow overflow in the residential area," he said.

Coincidentally, he said the discharge of the Babon River was also high because of the delivery from the upper area, such as Ungaran, which was also heavy rain.

He said that dozens of residents were affected by the flood, such as in the Argo Residence Housing in RT 7 RW 7 there were 25 heads of households (KK) or 80 people and RT 8 RW 7.

In the Grand Batik Semarang Housing there are 13 KK/33 people affected, then in the Grand Permata Tembalang Housing there are 63 KK/138 people (RT 8 RW 3) and 47 KK/175 people (RT 9 RW 3).

Flooding in the Grand Permata Tembalang Housing also made a number of residents have to evacuate at the Iktifal Al Barokah Mosque, namely 18 people consisting of 12 adults and six toddlers.

Then the flood in the Dinar Indah RW 26 Meteseh Housing affected 26 KK/34 people in RT 6, and RW 1 Rowosari Village around 200 KK/500 people.

Currently, he said, the Semarang City BPBD is still monitoring and monitoring the areas that are still affected by flooding, conducting assessments and evaluating flood victims.

For urgent needs at this time, he said, namely cleaning the post-flood location, logistical support in the affected areas, and clean water.
