Heavy Rain Threatens Jakarta Monday, February 16, Beware of Flooding and Landslides

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of the potential for moderate to heavy rain in the DKI Jakarta area on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Based on official information from BMKG quoted from Antara, on Monday morning BMKG set the alert status for moderate to heavy rain for the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands areas. The potential impacts at this level include waterlogging, river overflows, and potential landslides that can disrupt community activities.

Meanwhile, for the Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, East Jakarta, and South Jakarta areas, the BMKG set the alert status with the potential for heavy to very heavy rain. The alert status also applies to Bogor Regency and Bogor City.

At the alert level, the potential impact of hydrometeorology is considered more significant, namely in the form of floods, flash floods, and landslides which can have an impact on the community, public services, and infrastructure.

BMKG urges the public to increase vigilance, especially in areas prone to flooding and riverbanks, and monitor the latest weather information through the official BMKG channel to anticipate the potential impacts.
