ASEAN Foundation Partners with Central Java Police to Strengthen AI Literacy for Thousands of Citizens and Officials
JAKARTA - The ASEAN Foundation is partnering with the Central Java Police to strengthen the implementation of the AI Ready ASEAN Program through in-depth training, AI awareness campaigns, and Training of Trainers throughout February-April 2026.
This series of activities was held in a number of regions in Central Java as part of an ongoing effort to expand access to AI literacy and encourage readiness for technology adoption at the local level.
"The use of AI can be a driving force for productivity, competitiveness, and development, but these benefits can only be optimally felt if accompanied by adequate literacy and understanding," said Piti Srisangnam, Executive Director of the ASEAN Foundation.
Through this program, the ASEAN Foundation seeks to equip the Indonesian people with ethical skills and understanding so that AI is not only used, but also understood and used responsibly.
This is also in line with the ongoing digital transformation in Indonesia, where the use of AI is believed to drive various changes in the education, media, and public services sectors.
Through a cross-sectoral collaborative approach, this initiative reflects the ASEAN Foundation's efforts in supporting the readiness of the community to utilize AI safely, inclusively, and responsibly.
The implementation of this program includes In-depth AI Training which reaches around 8,000, consisting of young people and parents, in six regencies in Central Java, namely Semarang, Pati, Pekalongan, Banyumas, Kedu, and Surakarta.
The program is also complemented by an AI Awareness Raising campaign that is targeted to reach more than 140,000 beneficiaries, including students, students, communities, and the general public.
To ensure the sustainability and consistency of the AI literacy message at the regional level, the ASEAN Foundation will also hold a Training of Trainers (ToT) for representatives of the Central Java Police before implementing activities in the field.
Through this training, the police officers together with local facilitators will be equipped with relevant knowledge, materials, and learning methods so that they can play a role as agents of digital and AI literacy in their respective regions.
"With the right understanding, technology can be a means to strengthen security, trust, and quality of life together," concluded the Central Java Police Chief, Brig. Gen. Pol. Latif Usman.
