Pramono Releases 10,000 Runners for Soekarno Run 2026, Emphasizing Sport Tourism and Leadership Regeneration
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung released 10,000 participants in the 2026 Soekarno Run Runniversary at the East Parking Lot of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Central Jakarta.
This running event is part of the DKI Provincial Government's (DKI) efforts to encourage public sports as well as strengthen sports tourism in the capital.
All the quota of participants was reported to be exhausted within three days.
Pramono said the DKI Provincial Government fully supports this activity because it is considered inclusive and in line with the vision of Jakarta as a global city with culture.
"Through the 2026 Soekarno Run Runniversary, we hope that sports can become a meeting space for cross-generational meetings that strengthen national identity while strengthening the commitment to building a healthy, inclusive, and globally competitive Jakarta," said Pramono at the location, Sunday, February 15.
According to him, Soekarno Run is not only a sports event, but also a momentum to revive the values of the struggle of the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno.
Pramono said the spirit of self-reliance, mutual cooperation, and loyalty to the people that Bung Karno bequeathed needed to be continued, especially by the younger generation.
"This spirit must continue to be maintained and passed on to the younger generation," he said.
The high interest of participants is said to be an indicator that the ideas and figures of Bung Karno are still relevant across generations. The enthusiasm was also seen from the involvement of young people in the organization of the event.
Soekarno Run is led by 10 young leaders from student and student elements. This concept refers to Bung Karno's quote about the role of youth in change.
"The implementation involving and led by young people is proof that the regeneration of leadership continues. Jakarta provides the widest possible space for the younger generation to appear and lead," said Pramono.
In addition to the general category, the committee opened the 10K Student category. The podium winner in this category receives a scholarship.
The scheme is claimed as a form of support for the world of education as well as encouraging the regeneration of national leadership through the path of sports achievement.
In its implementation, the committee also implemented integrated waste management. Reverse vending machines are provided to encourage a circular economy and increase participants' environmental awareness.
Elements of the event such as jersey design, medals, and postcards featuring Bung Karno were also designed as educational media.
"Participants are expected not only to bring home the experience of racing, but also the values of struggle and national spirit," said Pramono.
