There is a Hidden Camera in the Women's Toilet, This Museum Employee is Suspended and Goes through the Legal Process
JAKARTA - The famous modern art museum Centre Pompidou in Paris, France, said on Wednesday that it had filed a legal complaint and suspended an employee after the discovery of a hidden camera in a women's toilet in his office.
A statement from the famed modern art space, which closed its doors last year for renovations, said an employee discovered a "video recording device" on January 14 in an office housing building management and security staff near its main location.
"The Centre Pompidou has filed a complaint and handed the matter over to the public prosecutor," a museum spokesperson told Agence France-Presse (AFP) in an email, as reported by Daily Sabah (13/2).
In a separate internal communication, seen by AFP, management said "the alleged perpetrator has been identified and, given the seriousness of the facts, immediately suspended from his duties."
Meanwhile, a female staff member, who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity, said the women were traumatised by the news and urged management to be more transparent about the camera's findings.
The Centre Pompidou, which houses one of the world's largest collections of modern art, closed last September for renovations estimated to cost 460 million euros ($550 million).
