SEMARANG - Ahead of the end of the 2026 Temple Safety Operation, the Central Java Regional Police released a summary of the results of the activities up to the 12th day of the operation. Data collected until Friday (13/2/2026) showed the strong commitment of the police to reduce the number of violations and traffic accidents in the Central Java region. The Public Relations Chief of the Central Java Police, Kombes Pol Artanto, said that during the period from 2 to 13 February 2026, a total of 51,736 cases of violations were taken action. Of these, action through the ETLE mechanism dominated 27,115 cases, while 30,045 drivers were given sympathetic reprimands. "Violations are still dominated by two-wheelers with a total of 19,862 violators. The most common type of violation is not using a SNI helmet with 10,245 cases, followed by running against the flow, underage drivers, to using exhaust that does not meet specifications," said Kombes Pol Artanto at the Central Java Police Headquarters, Saturday (14/2/2026). Meanwhile, for four-wheel vehicles, a total of 1,829 violations were recorded with the majority of violators not using safety belts and misuse of open-top vehicles to transport people. Kombes Pol Artanto highlighted the fact that 64 percent of the total violators were under 18 years of age.
"This figure is an important evaluation for us to continue to intensify education to schools and young communities, considering that they are the most vulnerable group to be involved in incidents on the road," he added. Regarding the accident rate, it was recorded that there were 574 cases of laka lantas which resulted in 11 people dying. The main factor for the accident was identified as negligence while leading, not keeping a safe distance, and the factor of physical fatigue of the driver. The Public Relations Chief emphasized that the entire series of the 2026 Temple Safety Operation was not just a routine law enforcement, but a strategic step to create conditions ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H. "The awareness that we are building today is an investment so that the homecoming and return flow later can run safely, comfortably, and smoothly. We have also started to coordinate with related stakeholders to ensure the readiness of the homecoming routes in Central Java," he explained. Until the end of the operation period on February 15 tomorrow, the Central Java Police will continue to prioritize a humanistic and professional approach in every operational activity. "We urge the public to remain disciplined in traffic even though the operation period is over. Remember, safety is a common need, especially in a moment when we will welcome the holy month of Ramadan," concluded Kombes Pol Artanto.
