PPP Chairman Muhamad Mardiono: PPP Faction in the DPRD Must Be the Guard of Unity and Development
BALI - The General Chair of the United Development Party (PPP), Muhamad Mardiono, emphasized the importance of the role of the PPP Faction in the Regional Representative Council (DPRD) in safeguarding the unity and development of the nation.
This was conveyed by Mardiono when opening the PPP Faction National Technical Guidance (Bimtek) which had the theme "Strengthening the Role of the DPRD in Monitoring the Unity and Development of the Nation", at the Discovery Hotel Bali, Saturday (14/2/2026).
According to Mardiono, the role of members of the DPRD from the PPP Faction is not only important for the current local government governance, but also very decisive for the position and strength of the PPP in the national contestation in the 2029 General Election.
As a party born from the spirit of unity of the people, Mardiono emphasized that the PPP has a moral responsibility to ensure that all cadres who sit in the DPRD, both at the provincial and district/city levels, are able to become examples of political ethics, adhesive of social unity, and a bridge between the aspirations of the people and local government policies.
"All PPP cadres in the DPRD must appear as an example of political ethics, become a glue of social unity, and become a bridge between the aspirations of the people and the policies of the local government. The role of the PPP Faction in the DPRD is not only important for regional governance today, but also determines the future of PPP in the future national contestation," said Mardiono.
Mardiono also emphasized the importance of synergy between the central and regional governments as emphasized by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. According to him, this message is very relevant to the tasks and functions of the DPRD.
"There is no acceleration of development without policy coordination between the center and the regions. And there is no equity without orchestration of cross-level government programs," said Mardiono.
Mardiono, who is also the President's Special Envoy (UKP), asked all PPP cadres who are currently sitting in the DPRD, both at the provincial and district/city levels throughout Indonesia, to become a bridge of policy synergy.
"The fate of the PPP in the DPRD must ensure that national programs are effectively translated in the regions, while voicing the real needs of the regions to the central level," he said.
In line with the national policy direction, Mardiono emphasized the PPP's commitment to supporting and monitoring the success of the President's priority programs that benefit the people, including the food security program, the free nutritious meal program, the people's school program, the free health examination program, and the Red and White Village Cooperative program.
He emphasized that the PPP Faction in the DPRD has a strategic role to oversee the implementation of these programs in the region.
"The role of the PPP Faction is to ensure that all programs are on target, accountable, and sustainable through regional regulatory support, adequate budgeting, and constructive oversight," said Mardiono.
Furthermore, Mardiono said that the PPP Faction National Workshop was an important instrument to increase the technocratic capacity of cadres so that they are able to oversee equitable, inclusive, and sustainable regional development.
"This workshop is important to strengthen the technocratic capacity of cadres, so that they are able to oversee the development of a fair, inclusive, and sustainable region," he said.
On this occasion, Mardiono also emphasized the importance of synchronizing the movement between the PPP Faction in the DPRD with the party's struggle line. According to him, the faction is not an entity that stands alone, but an extension of the party's hand in the public policy arena.
"Faction is not a self-standing entity, but an extension of the party's hand in the policy arena. Therefore, ideological consistency, organizational discipline, and faction solidity must continue to be strengthened," he said.
Through this National Workshop, Mardiono hopes that members of the DPRD from the PPP will receive reinforcement in the functions of legislation, budgeting, and supervision, as well as being able to improve political communication and strengthen their role as representatives of the people in the region.
"Make all the knowledge obtained in this forum as a resource to work more effectively in their respective areas in delivering people's welfare," he concluded.
Previously, the United Development Party (PPP) had held a National Working Conference (Mukernas) on February 11-12, 2026. The agenda was then continued with the National (Bimtek) as part of strengthening the internal consolidation of the party, as well as strengthening the readiness of cadres in welcoming the 2029 Election.
