Samsung Starts Testing One UI 9 for These Galaxy Devices

JAKARTA - The release of One UI 8.5 has not yet occurred, but Samsung has laid the foundation for the next major release, One UI 9. Several Galaxy devices have been spotted on Samsung's test servers with new build versions that refer to One UI 9.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are the first phones to appear on the server with the One UI 9 (1, 2) trial build. Both of these folding phones will be launched around July 2026 with One UI 9 directly out of the box.

Perhaps the most interesting is the emergence of a mysterious third device with a modem number SM-F971U running the F971USQU0AZB1 build version. This could mean that Samsung may also launch a third folding phone in conjunction with the Fold 8 and Flip 8 in the second half of this year. We don't know what it's called, but rumors say this could be the Galaxy Wide Fold.

In addition to these three upcoming foldable phones, the One UI 9 beta build has also been spotted for the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This is somewhat surprising, as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has not even received the One UI 8.5 update.

List of Devices in the One UI 9 Beta

So, here is the list of Samsung devices that are currently in the One UI 9 beta:

Galaxy Z Fold 8

Galaxy Z Flip 8

Galaxy Wide Fold (name not confirmed)

Galaxy Z Fold 7

This list is currently small, because Samsung has just started testing One UI 9. This list will grow in the coming days, especially after the release of One UI 8.5, when more of the company's focus will shift to One UI 9.

It's important to underline that the One UI 9 testing is happening internally, so you can't download and test the firmware on your Galaxy device. The presence of such a trial build on the server shows that the company is testing the firmware behind closed doors to ensure a stable and smooth launch in the future.

While Samsung has started developing One UI 9 for its Galaxy devices, its main focus is the Galaxy S26 series, which launches later this month with One UI 8.5. At the end of April, we may see One UI 8.5 launched to older Galaxy devices. You can check the list of eligible devices here.
