Commission V of the DPR asks the Government to increase the security of pioneer airports in the 3T area

Member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Danang Wicaksana Sulistya (DWS) asked the government to increase the security of pilot airports, especially in the 3T area (Behind, Ahead, and Outlying). This follows the shooting incident against two airline pilots of PT Smart Cakrawala Aviation (Smart Air) by an armed group at Korowai Batu Airport, Yaniruma District, Boven Digoel Regency, South Papua, Tuesday, February 11.

The head of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Gerindra Party, emphasized that air connectivity is the lifeblood of people's lives in the outermost regions. According to him, the safety of pilots and flight crews is a death price that must be guaranteed by the state.

"We ask the government to guarantee the security of the pilot airport so that the distribution of logistics and human movement in the 3T area is not stopped by terror," Danang Wicaksana said in a press statement, Saturday, February 14.

Danang encourages a quick response to restore the security situation after the incident. He also reminded that the lingering security threat could potentially make airlines afraid to operate. Because according to him, there is an impact on people in rural areas who can be increasingly isolated, while the price of basic necessities jumps due to disrupted supplies.

"Therefore, we ask for the placement of adequate security personnel at the pilot air transportation vital object," explained the legislator from the Central Java III constituency.

Danang emphasized that Commission V of the DPR is committed to providing protection for transport crews in Nusantara.

"We are committed to fighting for the protection of transportation heroes who bet their lives to knit the connectivity of the archipelago," said Danang.
