Close Friendship to Partnership between Indonesia and Cambodia, the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh Holds Nobar Boundless Love
JAKARTA - The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Phnom Penh held a special screening of the Indonesian film "Boundless Love" at Legend Cinema Olympia, Phnom Penh, as part of Indonesia's ongoing efforts to strengthen economic and socio-cultural diplomacy with Cambodia on Thursday.
This watch together (Nobar) was held with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia and in cooperation with Nanyang Bridge Media, attended by the Minister of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia Phoeurng Sackona.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, Santo Darmosumarto, explained that the screening of this film aims to promote the creative industry and the richness of Indonesian culture through film.
He noted the increasing popularity of Indonesian films in Cambodia. Citing data from the Cambodian Ministry of Film and Cultural Dissemination, Indonesian films ranked third in the most played films throughout 2025, after Hollywood films and local productions.
"Film is an important bridge between our two nations. The positive response to Indonesian films in Cambodia reflects the closeness of the people of the two countries and opens up new opportunities for collaboration in the creative sector," said Ambassador Santo, launching the KBRI Phnom Penh's website (13/2).
"Boundless Love", which was released in 2019, is a romantic drama film produced jointly by Indonesia and China. With the support of the Indonesian Creative Economy Agency, Red and White China and PT Kamala Media Cipta, this film shows the potential of international partnerships in the creative industry.
Through this screening, the Indonesian Embassy introduced the Cambodian audience to a wider range of Indonesian film genres.
"Indonesian cinema does not only offer horror films. We produce diverse and high-quality works that deserve wider recognition," explained Ambassador Santo.
In line with the Indonesian Ambassador, Minister Phoeurng Sackona in his opening remarks said, the screening of this film is more than just a cultural event.
"This activity is a symbol of friendship, partnership, and a shared vision between Cambodia and Indonesia," said the Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.
The screening of this film was also followed by a discussion session to explore cooperation between Indonesian and Cambodian film stakeholders, including opportunities for joint production, content exchange, and capacity building for professionals. The session featured Ihsan Chairdiansyah from PT Produksi Film Negara and Nanyang Bridge Media CEO Gandhi Priambodho.
Attended by around 250 participants from the diplomatic community, the creative industry, and universities, this activity reaffirms Indonesia's commitment to strengthening people-to-people relations and expanding cultural cooperation with Cambodia.
