Bahlil Sentil National Banking to Finance Renewable Energy

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia asked national banks to participate in financing renewable energy (EBT).

Bahlil said that currently the government is building a power plant from renewable energy of 50 GW by 2035. This is stated in the PLN Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) for 2025-2034.

"Banking friends, this is captive because it will be bought by the government. So these are opportunities that will trigger our economic growth in the future," said Bahlil, quoted on Saturday, February 14.

He added, with a total power plant capacity of 50 GW, he targeted total investment of approximately Rp. 1,650 trillion.

"Well, friends of entrepreneurs, this can be used," added Bahlil.

The Chairman of the Golkar Party said that this opportunity needs to be taken advantage of by banks with affordable financing. He also said that if it is not used, this golden opportunity will be taken by foreign financial institutions so that the circulation of money does not run well in the country.

"So if national banking friends don't buy this, foreign banks with cheaper interest will definitely come in. And that's for sure, the money goes in and out again. And this is what we don't want," said Bahlil.

For information, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) recorded the mix of Renewable Energy (RE) throughout 2025 at 15.75 percent.

In detail, the capacity is dominated by the Water Power Plant (PLTA) which contributes 7,587 MW, followed by bioenergy at 3,148 MW, and geothermal energy at 2,744 MW. In addition, the contribution from other energy sources is also continuing to grow, including solar energy at 1,494 MW, coal gasification at 450 MW, wind at 152 MW, and waste utilization at 36 MW, and other sources at 18 MW.

Meanwhile, specifically for electricity, the achievement of the EBT mix has exceeded the target set in the National Electricity Master Plan (RUKN).
