BMKG: Some Major Cities in Indonesia Have the Potential to Rain Today
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public that there was a potential for rain with various intensities in various major cities in Indonesia.
"The readiness for potential heavy to very heavy rain in the Bangka Belitung Islands, Bengkulu, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku and Central Papua needs to be improved," said BMKG Praktirawan Adelia in an online weather forecast, quoted by Antara, Saturday, February 14.
Specifically for major cities in Indonesia, he said the BMKG predicted cloudy weather in Tanjung Pinang and light rain in Banda Aceh, Medan, Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung, accompanied by the potential for petir in Bengkulu.
For the Java region, he continued, light rain is predicted to fall in certain periods today in Serang, Bandung, and Semarang. There is also the potential for moderate intensity rain in Yogyakarta, as well as rain accompanied by lightning in Jakarta and Surabaya.
"Today, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, and Samarinda regions are predicted to experience thick cloudy conditions and there is a potential for light rain in Palangka Raya and Tanjung Selor," he said.
He explained that for the Bali and Nusa Tenggara regions, there was the potential for light rain in Denpasar and Mataram and petir in Kupang.
Meanwhile, continued Adelia, in Sulawesi, it is estimated that the condition will be thick clouds in Palu, smoke or fog in Mamuju, and light rain in Manado, Gorontalo, Makassar, and light rain in Kendari.
For the eastern Indonesian region, BMKG predicts rain in major cities today, including light rain in Ternate, Ambon, Sorong, Manokwari, Nabire and Jayapura, and moderate intensity rain in Jayawijaya and Merauke.
