Erling Haaland Makes Manchester City Worry Because of Injury Against Fulham
JAKARTA - Erling Haaland has Manchester City worried about an injury after Pep Guardiola revealed the striker asked to be replaced during the 3-0 win over Fulham on Thursday, February 12, 2026.
Haaland scored Manchester City's third goal (39') in the match which was his first goal in the English League in 2026 from an open game.
However, after a hard tackle from Fulham defender Joachim Anderson in the process of creating Manchester City's second goal, the Norwegian failed to return to the field after the first half.
Guardiola described the issue as a minor injury and said it was Haaland's decision to leave the field.
"(He) had some problems, he felt uncomfortable, of course the score was 3-0. I haven't spoken to the doctor, I don't know exactly what he had. Just fatigue or something like that."
"He was uncomfortable and with the score 3-0, with a lot of games, having Omar (Marmoush) - it makes sense," Guardiola said.
When asked further about the problem, Guardiola hinted that Haaland had difficulty coping with the many matches after starting his season in the 2025 Club World Cup in June last year.
The Manchester City manager spoke about Haaland after Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella - part of the 2025 Club World Cup-winning team - suffered an injury in Chelsea's 2-2 draw against Leeds United on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
"The reason? Many matches. Cucurella is injured, right? You know the reason, right?" said Guardiola.
