New Round of Russia-Ukraine-US Talks to be Held Next Week in Geneva

JAKARTA - Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said a new round of trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine would be held in Geneva, Switzerland, with Moscow's delegation led by Russian Presidential Aide Vladimir Medinsky.

"The next round of negotiations on the settlement of Ukraine will also be held in the trilateral format of Russia-US-Ukraine on February 17-18 in Geneva," Peskov said, launching TASS (13/2).

"This time, the Russian delegation will be led by Russian Presidential Aide Medinsky," he added.

It is known that Russia, Ukraine and the United States held their first trilateral negotiations on February 23-24 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to end the war that broke out in February 2022. The Russian delegation in the negotiations was led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff.

Meanwhile, the second round of the trilateral meeting took place on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi.

Previously, Peskov confirmed that an agreement had been reached to hold the next round of peace talks "next week," but did not provide further details, quoted by Anadolu.

US authorities have not commented on Peskov's statement, although the communications adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Dmytro Lytvyn, also confirmed the date and location of the talks in his statement to Ukrainian media, including the state news agency Ukrinform.

In a subsequent statement on the US social media company, Facebook, the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, said the Kyiv delegation had begun preparations for the meeting.
