Vice President Gibran encourages market traders to press inflation

DENPASAR - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka while reviewing the Badung Market, Denpasar City, emphasized the need to encourage food subsidies for traders to reduce the rate of inflation.

At that time, Vice President Gibran held a dialogue with traders who received subsidies for basic materials accompanied by Bali Governor Wayan Koster and Denpasar Mayor I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara.

At that time, the Vice President also asked that the digitization in Badung Market be accelerated to strengthen the people's trade ecosystem.

"The government's commitment is to maintain people's purchasing power and strengthen the people's trade ecosystem so that it is more efficient and modern," said Vice President Gibran, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, February 13.

Efforts to maintain price stability, said Vice President Gibran, are in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction which emphasizes strengthening the people's economy through responsive policies and based on real needs in the field.

"The government is committed to ensuring that traditional markets remain a healthy, stable economic space, and are in favor of small business actors and consumers," said Vice President Gibran.

During the review, the Vice President had a direct dialogue with traders regarding the development of the prices of a number of strategic commodities.

He emphasized the importance of proactive steps in the event of a price spike, including ensuring smooth distribution and targeted policy support for traders.

The Vice President also emphasized that the Bali Provincial Government should maintain market price stability so as to provide comfort both for traders and buyers.

"The central government appreciates the digitization carried out in the market. Also a direction to the Mayor that all commodities that experience price fluctuations, the subsidy should be given to all traders," he said.

In addition, ensuring price stability and protection for traders is also a concern of the central government so that there is ease of transaction systems in the market as part of strengthening a more modern and transparent trading ecosystem.

This visit to Badung Market is one of the series of working visits of Vice President Gibran to Bali Province.

Meanwhile, Denpasar Mayor I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara said that the Badung Market in Denpasar City received the full attention of Vice President Gibran.

"The Vice President Gibran gave a number of directions related to efforts to reduce the rate of inflation in the City of Denpasar through a subsidy program for traders," said Jaya Negara.

"Perumda Pasar Sewakadarma Denpasar through the Sewaka Jaya Business Unit, he continued, has committed to providing subsidies to market traders to reduce the rate of inflation," he continued.

The subsidy to traders is given in the form of several types of important commodities such as sugar, rice, eggs, and chili, especially those that are experiencing price increases. In addition to aiming to suppress the rate of inflation, it is also a form of support from the Denpasar City Government to market traders.

"The Vice President hopes that the implementation of this subsidy will be equitable to all traders," explained Jaya Negara.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of the Denpasar Sewakadarma Market Authority, Ida Bagus Kompyang Wiranata, ensured that his party was ready to follow up on Vice President Gibran's instructions by evaluating the subsidy scheme so that it could reach more traders, especially for commodities that experience price fluctuations.

"As of today, subsidies are focused on commodities such as chili which have increased in price," he said.

Kompyang explained that the spike in chili prices was influenced by weather factors and was a phenomenon that often occurred seasonally.

Meanwhile, for rice and sugar commodities are relatively stable so that they do not require subsidy interventions. Meanwhile, the price of meat is reported to have started to rise, but is still within safe limits.

"In general, the supply and price conditions of basic necessities at the Badung Market are still stable, including commodities that are imported from outside Bali. The visit of Vice President Gibran is expected to encourage steps to control inflation while maintaining people's purchasing power," said Kompyang Wiranata.
