The Haji Village Project, Danantara is Ready to Buy Land 600 Meters from the Grand Mosque
JAKARTA - The Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (Danantara Indonesia) targets to expand the Haji Village project in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, by purchasing more land which is 600 meters from the Grand Mosque.
The expansion was carried out after previously acquiring a hotel asset (Novotel Makkah) and real estate located within the Thakher City area, or 2.5 kilometers (km) from the Al-Haram Mosque.
"The next thing we will do is buy land, which is about 600 meters from the Grand Mosque," said Danantara Indonesia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rosan Roeslani in his presentation at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 event at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, Friday, February 13, reported by ANTARA.
In addition, Rosan continued that the Haji Village will have a tunnel, however, he did not specify that the tunnel would connect to the area in Mecca.
"There is a direct tunnel, and this is what we have done by buying hotels and land in Kampung Haji," said Rosan.
He revealed that in the Haji Village area, Danantara will build a total of 13 buildings to accommodate Indonesian pilgrims and umrah.
"This was the signing on December 14 (2025) and this is the plan that we will build, 13 towers that we will build in that area," said Rosan.
Previously, Danantara Indonesia had reported the progress of the development of the Hajj Complex in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, with the Thakher Area being the initial foundation that had been running.
Thakher area includes Novotel Thakher Makkah and has been operating with approximately 4.4 hectares of development area land located approximately 2-3 kilometers from the Grand Mosque, with approximately 1,461 rooms in three towers, as well as approximately 14 plots of land in the area planned for further development, including commercial areas and retail centers.
"Gradually, this area is designed to grow to around 6,000 rooms with an estimated capacity of approximately 22,000 pilgrims, or about 10 percent of the total Indonesian Hajj pilgrims each year," said Danantara Indonesia Pandu Sjahrir's Chief Investment Officer (CIO).
