Kemenhaj: Hajj Dormitory is Ready to Become a Centralized Umrah Service Center
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) projects that the Hajj dormitory will not only be used as a place of lodging, but also as a One Stop Services center for umrah pilgrims.
This program is the result of a synergistic collaboration between the Ministry of Religion, the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas), and Garuda Indonesia. The main focus is to provide extra convenience and comfort for umrah pilgrims before departing for the Holy Land.
"The government provides this facility purely to provide more comfort for pilgrims. We need to convey that One Stop Services is a choice or option, not a mandatory thing for umrah pilgrims," said Kemenag spokesperson Maria Assegaf as reported by ANTARA, Friday, February 13.
He explained that through the One Stop Services concept, umrah pilgrims or Umrah Travel Organizers (PPIU) who use Garuda Indonesia can choose to depart from the Hajj dormitory.
If you choose to leave through the Hajj dormitory, he said, pilgrims will get the facilities of manasik guidance, city check-in or baggage handling and boarding pass directly at the location, immigration services, and direct transportation to the apron.
"The congregation will be transported using a special bus directly to the aircraft door at the airport without having to queue at the general departure terminal," he said.
Currently, he said, the concept is in the final maturation stage. As a first step, the government will appoint one haj dormitory as a pilot project location before being implemented massively throughout Indonesia.
Although currently cooperation has only been established with Garuda Indonesia, he continued, the government is opening wide opportunities to collaborate with other airlines in the future to expand the reach of this service.
"The Hajj dormitory has tremendous potential to be utilized for many productive things. We started with this umrah ecosystem so that people's worship journey becomes more devout and efficient," said Maria Assegaf.
