Good News! Umrah Pilgrims Can Now Check-In and Manage Passports Directly at the Hajj Dormitory
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has made a major breakthrough by transforming the function of the Hajj dormitory. Not just a place to stay, the Hajj dormitory is now projected to become an economic ecosystem center and One Stop Services (OSS) for umrah pilgrims.
This strategic step is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Religion, the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, and the Garuda Indonesia airline. The goal is clear: provide maximum efficiency for pilgrims before flying to the Holy Land.
Benefits of One Stop Services Umrah at the Hajj Dormitory
Through this integrated service concept, umrah pilgrims or Umrah Travel Organizer (PPIU) who use Garuda Indonesia's services can enjoy various facilities. The following are the flagship facilities provided:
Guidance on Manasik: Intensified preparation of worship before departure. City Check-in: Luggage management and printing of boarding passes directly at the Hajj dormitory. Immigration Service on the Spot: Passport inspection is completed on site, so pilgrims do not have to queue long at the airport. Direct Access to the Apron: Pilgrims will be escorted by a special bus to the aircraft door (bus to aircraft), without going through the general departure terminal.Optional and Flexible Service
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Maria Assegaf, emphasized that this transformation aims to reduce congestion at the airport and cut waiting times for pilgrims. Although it is very convenient, he emphasized that this service is not binding.
"The government provides this facility purely for the convenience of the congregation. One Stop Services is an option or choice, not an obligation for umrah pilgrims," Maria explained in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, February 13.
Pilot Project and Expansion of Cooperation
Currently, the OSS scheme is entering the finalization stage. As a first step, the government will appoint one haj dormitory as a pilot project location before being implemented nationally.
Although currently a new partnership has been established with Garuda Indonesia, the Ministry of Religion has opened the door for other airlines to join this ecosystem. "The haj dormitory has tremendous productive potential. We started from the umrah ecosystem so that people's worship journey becomes more devout and efficient," concluded Maria.
