Storm Hits France, Spain to Portugal, Community Mobility Disrupted

JAKARTA - Hurricane Nils resulted in strong winds and heavy rain hitting all of southern France, northern Spain, and parts of Portugal on Thursday local time.

Citing AFP, Friday, February 13, the impact of the extreme weather was that people's mobility was disrupted due to flight operations, trains, ferries and traffic disruptions.

French authorities said a truck driver was killed when a tree fell through the windshield of his vehicle.

Meanwhile, dozens of people were injured by the storm Nils in Spain and a viaduct in Portugal partially collapsed due to flooding.

Weather forecasters said the storm had moved east away from the French region on Thursday local time, although some areas were still on alert for flooding.

Until now, the exact number of deaths and injuries due to this disaster is not known.
