Dead, Donations for James Van Der Beek's Family Reach IDR 33 Million
JAKARTA - The donation campaign for the family of the late James Van Der Beek received a large number of figures shortly after the actor died. James Van Der Beek died on Wednesday, February 11 after fighting against colon cancer.
Not long after the news was announced, several of Van Der Beek's friends launched a long-running GoFundMe to support his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek and their six children.
"With the departure (of Van Der Beek), Kimberly and her children face an uncertain future. The cost of James' treatment and facing cancer leaves the family with expenses," one of the donation page's descriptions reads.
"They work hard to stay home and make sure children can continue to go to school and manage stability during difficult times. The support of friends, family, and the wider community will make the change as they determine the path to be taken," he continued.
In less than two days, this donation reached 2 million US dollars or Rp. 33 billion. Friends appreciate the assistance provided to the Van Der Beek family.
"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting James and his family. Your kindness means more than what we write. In the midst of deep grief, your support is a ray of light," he said.
"This reminds us that this love is real, this community is strong and James's strength continues to bring people together," the statement said.
James Van Der Beek died of stage 3 colon cancer. He revealed his illness for the first time in November 2024.
James Van Der Beek is an actor who has played many series and films. The role that is known is Dawson Leery in the series Dawson's Creek.
Some of the serial credits he played were Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, Modern Family, and Overcompensating. He also played a role in the series Elle which will be released this year.
In terms of film, Van Der Beek starred in Varsity Blues, The Big Bang, Labor Day, Downsizing, and Bad Hair which was his last film.
