JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) handed over assets from the Rp16.39 billion corruption case to the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) on Wednesday, February 11.
The grant handover was carried out at the Subang Regency Government Office, West Java. The signing of the grant document was carried out by the Director of Asset Tracking, Evidence Management, and Execution (Labuksi) of the KPK Mungki Hadipratikto together with West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi.
"This grant marks the KPK's commitment, in ensuring that assets from corruption crimes are returned to the community and used for public services in the region," said Mungki in a written statement from the institution quoted on Friday, February 13.
The KPK said that the assets would be repurposed as public facilities, ranging from the construction of schools, green open spaces (RTH), to Samsat service offices. The assets are located in a number of areas in West Java, such as Cibiru, Rancaekek, Cilengkrang, and Ujungberung, as well as commercial properties in the Margonda Raya area, Depok.
The assets donated came from a corruption case that had become legally binding (inkrah), with three convicts, namely Dadang Suganda, Heri Tantan Sumaryana, and Tafsir Nurchamid.
"This step is a strategy for asset recovery to ensure that corrupt people's assets are of real benefit to the community," said Mungki.
The KPK asked that the assets that had been donated could be utilized to the fullest by the local government. In addition, there is an obligation to pay compensation to third parties.
"In addition, there is an obligation to pay compensation to third parties, in this case to Bank BJB Syariah in the amount of Rp795.3 million, which is now the responsibility of the West Java Provincial Government," he said.
The KPK stated that monitoring would be carried out periodically to ensure that the assets that had been handed over were not misused or abandoned.
"This is an important control so that the assets donated really bring real benefits to the community," concluded Mungki.
