Fail to Defeat Brentford, Arsenal Fail to Leave Man City

JAKARTA - Arsenal failed to beat Brentford and only managed to draw 1-1 in the English Premier League match at the Gtech Community Stadium, Friday, February 13, 2026 WIB. The result made Arsenal fail to leave Manchester City who previously won 3-0 over Fulham.

Arsenal is under pressure. How not, two of his competitors, Man City and Aston Villa, managed to overcome their opponents so as to reduce the point gap with Arsenal who is still perched at the top of the standings.

There is no other choice for Arsenal except to win the match against Brentford in order to leave their competitors behind. However, Brentford is not an easy opponent to defeat.

Proven, after Arsenal took the lead through Noni Madueke, Brentford managed to equalize the score. A goal from Keane Lewis-Potter made the Gunners lose two points. This makes Arsenal fail to leave Man City and Villa completely.

Now, Arsenal with 57 points is only four points ahead of Man City who are in second place. Meanwhile, Villa in third place has 50 points.

Brentford themselves are still in seventh place and still have the chance to get a ticket to the Europa League or UEFA Conference League. Currently, The Bees have 40 points and are four points behind Chelsea who are in fifth place.

Arteta said Arsenal was actually able to control the match. That was still not enough to overcome Keith Andrews' team who played solid at home.

"We scored and took the lead. We also completely controlled the game. But it's still not enough when you're playing against those who wait for the opponent to make unnecessary mistakes. And that's what happened," Arteta said as quoted by france24.

"They put pressure on you. When the ball-throwing effort is not as expected and then there is a throw-in. Next, you can only pray because they are very good with what they do," he said again.

"When there is a melee with the ball around the goal, it is very difficult to defend. I told the players, 'If you want to win here [at Brentford], you have to defend the penalty area with your lives'. And we failed to do it," said Arteta.

Arsenal had difficulty facing Brentford even though they were able to dominate the game. In fact, the hosts almost broke Arsenal's goal if goalkeeper David Raya didn't make a brilliant save in the early minutes of the match.

After Arsenal's attacks failed throughout the first half, they finally broke the deadlock in the 61st minute. Madueke's header that greeted the cross headed to the bottom corner of the goal without being reached by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Only the 1-0 advantage of the North London club did not last long. Brentford managed to equalize 10 minutes later. Starting from a long throw into Michael Kayode who was immediately greeted with a header from Lewis-Potter from close range that conquered Raya.

Arsenal is still trying to add goals to get three points. But their efforts have not yet borne fruit. Including Gabriel Martinelli's efforts that almost produced a goal. It's just that goalkeeper Kelleher made a brilliant save that made the score remain 1-1 until the end of the match.
