Thousands of Pangandaran to Jakarta Residents Become Victims of MBA Investment Applications, Funds Cannot Be Withdrawn
Pangandaran - The Pangandaran Police are still investigating a report from the community regarding a case of alleged investment fraud on the MBA application in Pangandaran Regency, West Java.
"The police are still collecting data and deepening to determine the next legal steps," said Head of Public Relations Section of the Pangandaran Police, Aiptu Yusdiana, quoted by Antara, Friday, February 13.
He said that the Pangandaran Police had recorded thousands of victims of the MBA application who had reported and were recorded not only residents of Pangandaran Regency as victims, but also from neighboring areas such as Ciamis Regency, Tasikmalaya, and the big city, namely Jakarta.
Handling the case, he said, not only the Pangandaran Police, but also other police ranks are still continuing to collect data on the number of victims who have reported, including classifying the amount of victim losses.
He said, especially in Pangandaran, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pangandaran Police is asking for information from a number of witnesses for further investigation related to alleged violations of the law on the MBA application.
"This step is carried out as part of the initial process of handling the case to obtain a complete picture," he said.
He said that the Pangandaran Police had coordinated with Subdirectorate 2 of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the West Java Police, especially the Financial Monitoring and Development Unit (Fismondev) to handle the case.
The West Java Police, he said, were planning to ask for information from MBA application users in the Pangandaran area for further investigation into the case related to residents who could not withdraw funds from the application.
"Many members complain about the difficulty of withdrawing funds from the application," he said.
He conveyed that the Head of the Pangandaran Police, AKBP Ikrar Potawari, had conveyed to the public to be more careful about investment offers based on applications, and to ensure their legality.
"Make sure the legality before joining, and immediately report to the police if you feel harmed," he said.
Meanwhile, the West Java Financial Services Authority through the West Java Regional Illegal Financial Activities Eradication Task Force (Satgas PASTI) in its written statement has reminded the public to be aware of various modes of illegal financial activities and illegal investment offers, especially in Pangandaran.
The West Java Regional PASTI Task Force has appealed to the public to pay attention to several things such as avoiding participation and not easily tempted by investment offers from an entity that promises high returns that are not reasonable.
Furthermore, the PASTI Task Force reminds the public to ensure that the legality and reasonableness of the entity and the financial products and instruments offered by an entity have obtained permits or confirmations from the relevant authorities.
Furthermore, be careful of information in the name of the Financial Services Authority and the PASTI Task Force regarding the deepening process that is being carried out on an entity.
The PASTI Task Force has summoned in order to clarify the legality to prevent the impact of losses to the community arising from the investment offer.
