BPS Targets to Verify 106 Thousand PBI-JK Chronic Illnesses Completed Before Eid

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is pursuing the target of re-verifying as many as 106,153 participants who receive the National Health Insurance Premium (PBI-JKN) assistance for chronic disease survivors can be completed before Lebaran Idul Fitri 2026.

"It will be completed soon because this number is not too much. Well, our target is that before this Eid it will be completed," said BPS Head Amalia Adininggar as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, February 12.

Amalia explained that 106,153 PBI-JKN participants had previously been deactivated and then their membership had been automatically reactivated by the Ministry of Social Affairs, because they were identified as survivors of chronic or catastrophic diseases.

Even so, the participation of the beneficiaries will still be verified again, in order to ensure that social protection assistance from the government is received by people who really need it.

BPS confirmed that this was carried out as mandated by Presidential Instruction (Inpres) number 4/2025 regarding the Integration of Integrated Social Economic Data (DTSEN) and Inpres number 8/2025 regarding the Optimization of the Implementation of Poverty Alleviation.

BPS involves the Social Ministry's Family Hope Program (PKH) assistants, as well as statistical partners in the implementation of the verification, to ensure the accuracy of data and the socio-economic conditions of the beneficiaries.

Amalia is optimistic that the field verification process can be accelerated and completed according to the target through cross-team coordination, because the number of beneficiaries verified is not too large.

In fact, in addition to verifying these 106 thousand participants, BPS together with its partners will also soon begin to check the actual condition of around 11 million PBI-JKN participants who were previously deactivated as part of a thorough evaluation.

However, according to him, the verification process for this 11 million cluster is estimated to take about two months, which are all part of the update and refinement of the National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN) in 2026.

"There are about 39 variables in the questionnaire later that must be met whether they are eligible as PBI-JKN or are in the 1-5 DTSEN desil, or not, which are outside the desil. One of the variables is measured through family spending and others," he said.
