Strengthen Supply, DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and Cianjur Regency Government Hold Food Security Cooperation

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has collaborated with Cianjur Regency to strengthen food security in DKI Jakarta, this cooperation is marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding which was carried out on Thursday, February 12, 2026 in Cianjur Regency.

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno explained that today we are not just going through a signing ceremony. Far more than that, this signing is a statement of attitude that Jakarta and Cianjur should not go it alone, but rather support and strengthen each other.

This cooperation was born from the simple awareness that food security is not built with discourse, but with the courage to work together.

"We want the supply to be maintained and the price to remain reasonable. We want farmers to smile, and Jakarta residents to feel calm in welcoming Ramadan, Chinese New Year, and other major days with sufficient food stock availability. More than that, we want to build a solid bridge between the barn and the market, between farmers and families in the capital city." he explained.

According to him, the foundation of this bridge has been started through trust and business partnerships between PT Food Station and business actors in Cianjur. This morning we are harvesting Ciherang rice with PT Tunas Bumi Emas Lestari.

"I hope this is not only a harvest of results, but also a harvest of hope. The hope that the children of farmers can get higher education and become engineers. The hope that prices will no longer play with the sweat of farmers. And the hope that Jakarta and Cianjur grow together, not in competition, but in solidarity," he said.

In addition to the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno and the Deputy Regent of Cianjur Regency Abi Ramzi also carried out a joint harvest activity in Kertajaya, Ciranjang, Cianjur Regency. This joint harvest is a cooperation between the DKI Jakarta BUMD PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda) and PT Tunas Bumi Emas Lestari.

"This joint harvest is a concrete effort by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through Food Station to maintain the stability of rice supply, especially in DKI Jakarta. The total area of land that is collaborated is 150 hectares and involves 140 farmers who are members of 7 farmer groups," said Food Station President Director Dodot Tri Widodo.

In this cooperation, in addition to the IR 64/Inpari 32 rice varieties, the Cianjur Regency's flagship rice variety, Pandanwangi, was also planted on an area of 50 hectares, as is known that this Pandanwangi variety can only be planted in 7 sub-districts, namely Warungkondang, Cugenang, Cianjur, Cilaku, Cibeber, Gekbrong and Cempaka, which are currently decreasing in planting area.

"Food Station, in addition to absorbing general rice varieties, also absorbs special rice varieties Pandanwangi which can only be grown in Cianjur. Food Station has a special rice product brand Ciwangi which is a Pandanwangi variety, this product is marketed in Jabodetabek and Bali with a total requirement of 10 tons per month, but the availability of supplainya is quite limited. Through this cooperation, it is hoped that it will increase farmers' interest in planting Pandanwangi rice again," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Cianjur Regency Abi Ramzi said the highest appreciation to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through its Food Station BUMD. This cooperation is a concrete step to strengthen food security, improve the welfare of farmers and at the same time ensure the sustainability of food supply for the people of Jakarta and Cianjur Regency. This harvest is not only a symbol of the success of farmers but also reflects the strong synergy between the Provincial Government, BUMD and the Private Sector in developing a developed and competitive agricultural sector.

"This is our neighbor. So we support each other. Alhamdulillah, from the past until now, Cianjur is still a concern of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to provide support. Moreover, Jakarta's need for various food commodities is very high and this is a good challenge for Cianjur to be able to contribute to meet this challenge," he said.
