Golkar Ogah Responds to Prabowo-Zulhas Proposal in the 2029 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Secretary General Muhammad Sarmuji does not want to respond to the proposal for a duet between Prabowo Subianto-Zulkifli Hasan for the 2029 Presidential Election. This proposal was previously initiated by Deputy Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Eddy Soeparno.

"I don't want to respond, that's the other party's business," said Sarmuji at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, February 12.

In principle, continued Sarmuji, Golkar supports Prabowo to run for two terms if he succeeds in implementing his program and is appreciated by the Indonesian people. However, Golkar has not thought about returning to support Prabowo in partnership with Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

"The point is that we are in a position to support Mr. Prabowo to be successful as President, loved by the Indonesian people. Later, the two will continue or whatever, there will be a lot of time," said Sarmuji.

Previously, Deputy Chairman of the National Mandate Party (PAN) Eddy Soeparno said he supported President Prabowo Subianto to pair with PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas in the 2029 presidential election.

According to Eddy, the Prabowo-Zulhas pair has the potential to strengthen the party's machinery and increase PAN's electoral base in the upcoming presidential election.

"If asked today, I support Mr. Zulhas to accompany Mr. Prabowo in 2029, of course. For me, it will also revive the party machine. Kader-kader will also be moved to support the general chairman," said Eddy on Thursday, February 5.
