Actor James Van Der Beek Dies of Cancer

JAKARTA - Actor James Van Der Beek is reported to have died on Wednesday, February 11, US time. His wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek shared the news via social media.

"Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed away peacefully this morning. He met his final day in courage, faith, and blessing," Kimberly wrote.

"There is much to share regarding his hopes, love for humanity and comfort for time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we mourn the loss of our beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend," he continued.

James Van Der Beek died of stage 3 colon cancer. He revealed his illness for the first time in November 2024.

"I have colon cancer. I'm dealing with it privately and taking steps to get it resolved with the support of my family," James Van Der Beek told People.

James Van Der Beek is an actor who has played many series and films. The role that is known is Dawson Leery in the series Dawson's Creek.

Some of the serial credits he played were Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother, Law & Order, Modern Family, and Overcompensating. He also played a role in the series Elle which will be released this year.

In terms of film, Van Der Beek starred in Varsity Blues, The Big Bang, Labor Day, Downsizing, and Bad Hair which was his last film.

James Van Der Beek leaves one wife and six children at 48.
