Launched at IIMS, GWM Tank 500 Diesel Gets a Warm Welcome

JAKARTA - Inchcape GWM Indonesia presents a new breakthrough at the 2026 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS), which takes place at Jiexpo Kemayoran, by presenting the GWM Tank 500 Diesel premium SUV.

The model turned out to be a warm welcome, this was revealed by Inchcape GWM Indonesia CEO Bagus Susanto.

"This model immediately received an overwhelming response from the public. In the first five days after its launch during the IIMS 2026 period, GWM has recorded nearly 250 reservations, and about 40 percent of them are from the GWM Tank 500 Diesel," he said at the inauguration of the new dealer in Kelapa Gading, Wednesday, February 11.

According to him, this enthusiasm further strengthens GWM's position as one of the fastest growing automotive brands in Indonesia with a strong premium SUV portfolio.

In terms of design, this car offers a dashing impression, with the 'Drive First Class, Everywhere' philosophy, the cabin is designed like a moving lounge.

It even comes with various advantages, such as Nappa Leather with electric adjustment, ventilated seats, and Massage Function to keep the body relaxed after a busy day; 12 high-performance speakers provide immersive audio that accompanies important calls or favorite music.

Behind the hood, the 2,400 cc Turbo Diesel engine is combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT) made by GWM for smooth and efficient response in traffic jams and when overtaking. This performance produces a maximum power of 135 kW and a maximum torque of 480 Nm at 1,500 rpm and the SUV & Crossover is maintained up to 2,500 rpm, so the acceleration remains light even though the cabin is full of passengers and luggage.

There are also several embedded technologies, such as L2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to help reduce daily driving loads through a complete package: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Lane Centering to keep vehicles neat in their lanes during long trips, Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) to recognize speed limits, and Intelligent Cruise Assist/Traffic Jam Assist (ICA/TJA) which helps longitudinal and lateral control in traffic jams.

Talking about prices, the Tank 500 Diesel SUV is available in two options starting from 4x2 which is priced at Rp799 million and 4x4 Rp889 million, the price is OTR Jakarta.
