Minister of Home Affairs Tito Involves the National Police in Monitoring Regional Financial Management
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked the National Police for support to oversee the management of regional government revenues while helping to maintain inflation in their respective regions.
The request was conveyed by Tito on the sidelines of the 2026 Police Leadership Meeting (Rapim) at the Krakatau Grand Ballroom TMII, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 11. "For economic growth, one of them is how the regions can manage their APBD," said Tito.
According to Tito, the regional income and expenditure budget (APBD) has a major influence on economic growth. In this regard, the central government has directed all regional heads to manage income and expenditure optimally and responsibly.
He reminded regional heads not to look for sources of income that would burden the community. Instead, they are asked to think creatively and innovatively in exploring regional potential.
"I ask for help from the National Police to work together with the local government, to make creative profits while also helping to supervise," said Tito.
Apart from the APBD, Tito also highlighted the importance of maintaining regional inflation. According to him, the cost of living is the main problem for the community so that the stability of goods and services prices must be maintained.
Tito assessed that the National Police had a network up to the provincial, district/city, and even village levels. In addition, the existence of the National Police Food Task Force is considered strategic in monitoring the distribution and availability of basic commodities.
"The police have the ability to detect various indications of economic problems. This also moves in parallel to help keep inflation in the region under control," he said.
He hopes that the prices of goods and services will remain stable and their availability will be guaranteed so that the public feels calm. According to him, economic stability will have a direct impact on security stability.
"If the prices of goods and services are controlled and affordable, the public will be calmer and the impact will be more stable. That's what I ask for help from the National Police Chief and his staff," concluded Tito.
The synergy between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the National Police is expected to strengthen the supervision of the APBD as well as maintain the regional inflation rate to support national economic growth.
