YouTube TV Slammed, New Sports Package Without ESPN Unlimited Access

JAKARTA - YouTube TV has been criticized after launching its new sports package that does not include full access to the ESPN Unlimited service until autumn 2026. Many customers consider the package, which costs 64.99 US dollars per month, not worth calling a complete product.

As part of the new strategy, YouTube TV is rolling out 10 genre-based packages and ending the single subscription model. This scheme is designed to give customers more flexibility while reducing monthly costs. Users can now choose a channel package according to their interests, including a sports-specific package.

However, the sports package, which is one of the main features, has caused disappointment. Although it offers a variety of popular sports networks such as FS1 and NBC Sports Network, the package does not include access to ESPN Unlimited - ESPN's direct-to-consumer service that broadcasts exclusive matches and premium content.

For many sports fans, ESPN is still the main channel for important broadcasts, from primetime football matches to big NBA games. This lack of full access makes some customers feel that the savings value offered is not commensurate with the limitations of content.

YouTube TV confirmed that the package still includes all of ESPN's linear networks as well as local broadcast affiliates. However, access to ESPN Unlimited will only be available in the fall of 2026.

On social media and online forums, a number of users called the package a "half-finished product". A Reddit user wrote that if you have to subscribe to ESPN Unlimited separately to watch exclusive matches until the end of the year, then the cost savings are insignificant.

Until now, YouTube TV has not provided additional details regarding the exact schedule of the full integration of ESPN Unlimited in the sports package. Further developments are still awaited by customers, especially sports fans who want more comprehensive coverage.
