Kejari Names 3 Suspects in Corruption of BPR Intan Jabar Garut, State Loses Rp5 Billion

GARUT - The Garut Regency District Attorney's Office (Kejari), West Java, has named three suspects in the case of corruption in the Garut Intan Jabar BPR with a calculation of state losses of around Rp5 billion from 2018 to 2021.

"Appointing three suspects in the alleged corruption case in granting loans at PT BPR Intan Jabar, Garut Regency, at the Main Branch Office from 2018 to 2021," said Head of the Garut District Attorney's Office Yuyun Wahyudi, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 11.

He said that the Garut District Attorney's Office had carried out periodic examination processes, including the amount of state losses according to the calculation of Public Accountants of Rp. 5 billion.

The three suspects, he said, were the initials of AJ as the Head of the Branch of PT BPR Intan Jabar Main Branch Office Garut for the period 2016-2019, and the next suspect was the initials of EH as the Head of the Branch of PT BPR Intan Jabar Main Branch Office for the period 2020-2021.

The other suspect is the initials RR who previously served as the Head of Marketing at PT BPR Intan Jabar Head Office for the 2020-2021 period, then became the Head of the Head Office for the 2021-2022 period.

"The results of the examination, he said, the three suspects abused their positions to commit irregularities by granting credit at PT BPR Intan Jabar Garut without the knowledge of the customer.

"Committing irregularities in the granting of loans at PT BPR Intan Jabar Garut Regency at the Main Branch Office by means such as fictitious loans, topengan loans, and loans or top-up loans without the knowledge of the customer," he said.

The actions taken by the suspect, he said, violated Article 603 of the RI Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 18 of the RI Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes.

He said that after undergoing a series of examinations on the three suspects, they were then detained at the Garut Detention House for 20 days starting from February 11 to March 2, 2026 before they were processed further at the trial.

"The suspect was detained by the investigating prosecutor at the Garut Class IIB Detention Center for 20 days starting from February 11," he said.
