Electricity 13 Villages in Aceh Has Not Been Turned On, the Minister of Home Affairs Assures It Will Soon Be Restored

JAKARTA - The Minister of Home Affairs and Chairman of the Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Task Force in the Sumatra Region, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, said that the restoration of the electricity network in disaster-affected areas continued to show significant progress and most of them had returned to normal functioning.

According to him, the availability of electricity is one of the main indicators in measuring the acceleration of the recovery of infrastructure and basic services for the community after the disaster.

"For indicators of recovery, among other things, are things that are very basic, electricity, then fuel, both fuel and gas, LPG, and then communication facilities, internet," said Tito as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 11.

Based on the data monitoring of the PRR Task Force as of February 8, 2026, the recovery of electricity infrastructure in the three disaster-affected provinces continues to show progress.

In Aceh Province, there are still 13 villages whose electricity has not been turned on. Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, there are two villages whose electricity is still out. As for West Sumatra, the electricity flow has returned to normal overall.

"Then for fuel, gas stations and LPG, in general, it has been good, everything is smooth. What needs to be maintained is consistency. Likewise, electricity is mostly (recovered). I repeat, for West Sumatra everything is 100 percent," he said.

The PRR Task Force continues to coordinate with ministries/institutions and local governments to ensure that all affected areas recover immediately and electricity services return to normal.
