Mentrans Iftitah Reveals Need for Rp1 Trillion Budget to Build One Transmigration Area

JAKARTA - The Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) M. Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara revealed that it takes an estimated budget of around Rp. 1 trillion to build one transmigration area.

Iftitah said the figure was obtained after his party conducted a survey.

"We have, yes, actually conducted a survey to build a transmigration area that is so exciting, the government's incentive is approximately Rp1 trillion," said Iftitah in a press conference at his office, Wednesday, February 11.

"So that the basic infrastructure is fulfilled, then the facilities and infrastructure are also fulfilled," he continued.

Meanwhile, said Iftitah, his party was only given a budget of approximately Rp1 trillion per year. In fact, the government plans to build 154 transmigration areas throughout Indonesia.

"Of course, we are faced with fiscal constraints. Because Rp1 trillion for one transmigration area, if you refer to the Transmigration Area Plan (RKT). Meanwhile, the budget we received one year was approximately Rp1 trillion, even though this is used for 154 transmigration areas," he said.

According to Iftitah, collaboration between ministries/institutions is needed to build the transmigration area as stated in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 50 of 2018 concerning the Coordination and Integration of Transmigration Implementation.

"So, the Ministry of Transmigration cannot stand alone. This is in accordance with President Prabowo's direction that there must be synergy and collaboration," he said.

One of the real examples of this collaboration is the construction of the Rempang Eco City transmigration area in Batam, Riau Islands.

To realize the area, at least an estimated Rp490 billion is needed.

"One of the quite tangible results is in Rempang. In Rempang, in 2025, the government has spent around Rp. 490 billion. But transmigration to place 504 local families only spent around Rp. 112 billion, that is approximately 25 percent only," said Iftitah.

Meanwhile, around 75 percent, continued Iftitah, is supported by other ministries/institutions, including the Ministry of PU, the Ministry of ATR/BPN, KKP, and BP Batam.

"So, in the future, in the development of basic infrastructure, we will collaborate with other ministries/institutions," he added.
