Snapchat Launches Automatic Arrival Notification Feature
JAKARTA - Snapchat has introduced a 'Notification of Arrival' feature to make user-to-user interactions easier. This feature will tell the user's location to his closest family or friends.
This new feature will send an automatic alert when someone arrives at a certain destination without having to manually type a message. Users can set one-time or recurring alerts for various locations outside the home, such as offices, schools, or meeting places.
Basically, this feature is designed to make it easier for users to communicate in carrying out their daily activities. Snapchat also guarantees that this feature makes communication run more efficiently.
"Arrival notifications now work for everyday moments without having to remember to send a message," Snapchat said in its official blog, quoted on Wednesday, February 11.
Snapchat said that they still prioritize security in this feature. The location sharing feature on Snap Map will remain disabled by default, unless users manually enable the feature.
The platform will also not share arrival notifications with all user friends. To prioritize security, Snapchat only shares notifications with friends that the user has consciously selected.
To use this feature, users only need to open a friend's profile and select the 'Arrival Notifications' menu on the screen. Locations on the map can be given a personal name, such as 'les piano' or 'running club', so that the information received by friends is clearer.
One-time notifications that users create will automatically expire within 24 hours of being sent. This ensures that location data is not permanently stored in order to maintain privacy.
