BPR Bank Cirebon Disuntik Mati OJK, Walkot Pastikan Hak Nasabah Terlindungi
Cirebon - Mayor (Walkot) of Cirebon Effendi Edo ensures that the rights of customers of Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon, West Java, are still protected following the revocation of its business license by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the designation of the bank in liquidation status.
Edo, in his statement in Cirebon, Wednesday, said the local government as the capital owner authority (KPM) is committed to following all the processes of guidance, supervision, to follow-up handling in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.
He emphasized that the local government was overseeing the liquidation process by the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) until it was completed, to ensure the fulfillment of customer rights and maintain social and economic stability in the City of Cirebon.
"Our current focus is to ensure that the rights of the community and customers are protected through the LPS mechanism, so that the community does not need to worry," he said, quoted by Antara.
He said that Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon had previously been designated by OJK as a bank in the rehabilitation (BDP) since August 2, 2024, due to problems with the bank's governance and management integrity.
The problem, he said, includes practices that are not in line with the principles of prudence, good governance, the application of risk management, and compliance with regulations.
"This has a significant impact on the financial condition and business continuity of the bank," he said.
He conveyed the supervision status was then upgraded to BPR in the resolution (BDR) on August 1, 2025, with the Cirebon City Government still carrying out various rescue efforts.
"This effort is carried out through coordination with the LPS as well as facilitating and supporting the implementation of the temporary management team's tasks during the resolution period," he said.
His party also proposed a rescue scheme through the placement of temporary capital by LPS and the participation of local government capital, but the scheme was not approved.
"After that, OJK on February 9, 2026 officially revoked the business license of Perumda BPR Bank Cirebon at the request of LPS," he said.
Regarding this matter, Edo stated that he respected the decision of the OJK and was cooperative with LPS in carrying out the liquidation process and settlement of customer deposit guarantees.
Currently, his party is in intensive communication with OJK and LPS so that the liquidation phase is transparent, accountable, and prioritizes customer protection.
"This event is a momentum for a thorough evaluation of BUMD governance, by tightening the aspects of supervision, risk management, and compliance so that similar incidents do not recur," he said.
