Police Deploy 1,060 Personnel to Secure the Action of Madrasah Teachers in the DPR
JAKARTA - A total of 1,060 joint personnel were deployed to escort the rally held by the Indonesian Madrasah Teachers Association (PGM) in front of the DPR/MPR Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 11.
Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Pol Reynold EP Hutagalung, said that security was carried out to ensure that the delivery of opinions took place safely and orderly.
"We are here to protect our brothers who convey aspirations," said Reynold in Jakarta, quoted from Antara.
Before carrying out the task, the police had held a tactical wall game (TWG) to map the potential situation on the ground. This activity aims to provide an overview to the personnel concerned about the possible dynamics of the mass and the anticipated steps that need to be taken.
Reynold emphasized that all officers were asked to prioritize a persuasive, dialogic, and humanistic approach during their duty.
"Personnel are not equipped with firearms. We emphasize a professional, persuasive, and humanistic attitude in every action," he said.
The 1,060 personnel are from the Polda Metro Jaya, the Central Jakarta Metro Police, and the ranks of the police in the related area.
The Police Chief emphasized that the presence of the police was aimed at providing services to the community while guaranteeing the constitutional rights of citizens to express their opinions peacefully.
He also appealed to the participants in the action to maintain order during the event. The crowd was asked not to provoke, not to close public roads, and not to commit acts of anarchy such as burning used tires or damaging public facilities.
"We invite all participants in the action to jointly maintain order and not fight against officers," he said.
People around the DPR/MPR Building area are also reminded not to be influenced by provocations. Meanwhile, road users are advised to find alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion during the action.
According to Reynold, traffic flow arrangements will be adjusted to the conditions and number of masses in the field.
