Carrick Anticipates Manchester United Fans Will Cut Their Hair if They Win Five in a Row

Michael Carrick says a Manchester United fan who will get his hair cut until the team win five games in a row has made him smile after being told of the viral sensation by his children.

Fan Frank Ilett has amassed more than two million followers on social media by documenting his journey since October 2024.

It has been more than 500 days since Ilett cut his hair as the wait for a fifth straight win continues.

Manchester United have not won five consecutive matches since February 2024. However, Carrick and his team have the opportunity to finally make Ilett cut his hair when they face West Ham at London Stadium on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, early morning WIB.

"I can say I know about it. My kids have made me aware of it, but of course it wouldn't go into the team's discussions from a professional level."

"I can understand what's going on and it makes me smile, but in the end it won't have an impact," Carrick said.

However, Carrick did not want to get serious about how the uniqueness of the Red Devils' fans would continue. He prefers to focus on the hunt for Champions League tickets.

Four consecutive wins against Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham, and Tottenham have pushed Manchester United into the top four, one point ahead of Chelsea in fifth place.

After the trip to West Ham, Carrick gave his players a 12-day break before returning to action at Everton on February 23, 2026 after being eliminated early from the FA Cup.

"You definitely get confidence and a feeling from the games that you've played, knowing that you can go into the next game with a little bit more of a positive factor."

"I think the big challenge is knowing what gets you there and all the hard work and preparation."

"Then, what it takes to win a football match at this level is very difficult, so never assume the next match will be easy. Everything will be fine," said Carrick.

Carrick is likely to return without Mason Mount against West Ham as the England midfielder is still recovering from injury.

Mount has been absent in the last two matches, but could return for the away game against Everton.

"Mason probably won't play against West Ham, maybe after that, but he will definitely be back before the Everton game."

"Matthijs (De Ligt), we'll see how he develops during the game against Everton. It feels like it's been a long time, so we'll see how he develops, but he's positive."

"He's moving in the right direction, but Mason is a little closer to him," Carrick said.
