35 Million Families Receive Rice and Oil Food Assistance During Ramadan
JAKARTA - The government has rolled out food assistance for the community during the Ramadan period of 1447 Hijriyah.
A total of 35.04 million beneficiary families (KPM) will receive assistance in the form of rice and cooking oil as part of the economic stimulus.
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that the food assistance would be distributed for two months with a total allocation of 10 kilograms of rice and 2 liters of cooking oil for each recipient family.
"It will start to be distributed in Ramadan or February. And the government and related ministries/institutions are also expected to support the smooth logistics for the distribution of food assistance," Airlangga said at a Ramadan-Idulfitri economic stimulus press conference at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, February 10.
To support the program, said Airlangga, the government allocated a budget of IDR 11.92 trillion. This assistance is intended for people in the desil 1 to desil 4 group or the lowest income group.
"The target recipients are 35.04 million beneficiary families, namely people from desil 1 to desil 4," said Airlangga.
Apart from rice and cooking oil food aid, the government also continues to distribute other social assistance.
Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul said that basic food assistance and the Family Hope Program (PKH) would continue to be distributed to around 18 million beneficiary families.
"Food aid and the Family Hope Program targeting 18 million beneficiary families," said Gus Ipul.
The government has also allocated special funds for handling disaster victims, including floods in Sumatra and other areas.
The total budget prepared for the assistance reached IDR 2.3 trillion.
In addition, there is a social rehabilitation assistance program (Atensi) with a budget of around Rp20 trillion.
"The total value is IDR 20 trillion. To date, we have disbursed more than IDR 17 trillion. The rest will follow in January, February, and March," said Gus Ipul.
According to Gus Ipul, the distribution of social assistance is targeted to last until the Lebaran period, with the remaining budget to be redistributed in the second quarter of 2026, namely April to June.
"This means that Insyaallah until Lebaran, and we will distribute it in the second quarter, later in April, May, and June," he said.
