Arrested by Criminal Investigation Unit, Sadistic Begal Gang Residivist Admits to Using Proceeds of Crime for Gambling and Drugs

JAKARTA - A gang of robbers and motor smugglers was successfully arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Metro Penjaringan Police at Jalan Jembatan Dua Raya, Pejagalan Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta.

The perpetrators numbered three people. Two of them were men and one woman who played the role of a thief motor.

"We arrested two male pickpockets with initials RK (17) and RF (18) and a woman with the initials SN (34) who acted as a lookout," said AKP Agta Bhuwana Putra, Head of the Metro Police in Penjaringan, when confirmed, Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Kanit Reskrim AKP Sampson Sosa Hutapea said the two perpetrators of the robbery, with initials RF and RK, were repeat offenders of similar cases.

"They carried out the action by stalking the victim and using sharp weapons to threaten the victim," said AKP Sampson when confirmed separately.

The two perpetrators threatened the victim with a sharp weapon so that the victim was afraid and handed over his motorcycle and valuables.

Meanwhile, the proceeds from the sale of the motorcycle were used by the perpetrators to play online gambling and drug parties.

"This Begal sells the results of the crime to the dealer and gets Rp. 3 million," said the investigator.

The disclosure of this robbery case began with the incident experienced by the victim with the initials W (28) while taking money at an automated teller machine (ATM) around the scene of the incident.

When the victim was about to leave, the two perpetrators came up on a motorcycle.

"The two perpetrators took the victim's cell phone and motorcycle by force while pointing a sharp weapon of the type celurit," he said.

The victim then reported the incident to the Metro Penjaringan Police. After receiving the report, the operational team conducted an investigation and managed to secure the two perpetrators.

The perpetrator sold the proceeds of the crime to SN in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta. SN was eventually arrested for being a lookout.

The perpetrator was charged with Article 479 paragraph (2) letter a or Article 477 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code with a threat of 12 years in prison.
