Government Implements WFA Policy During the 2026 Eid Period

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Airlangga Hartarto, stated that the government would implement a work flexibility policy through the Work From Anywhere (WFA) or Flexible Working Arrangement (FWA) scheme during the Idul Fitri holiday period.

According to Airlangga, the policy aims to optimize the management of community mobility while making it easier to plan travel during religious holidays.

"Then at the time to optimize people's mobility, and make it easier for people to plan their trips, during the religious holiday of Eid al-Fitr, flexibility is given in determining working days, especially for ASN and also for private workers," he said in a press conference, Tuesday, February 10.

Meanwhile, the implementation of this policy will be further regulated through a circular issued by the Ministry of PANRB and the Ministry of Manpower.

In line with this, Minister of Manpower Yassierli appealed to companies to implement WFA policies for workers during the Lebaran holiday.

He said this step was considered important to maintain the continuity of economic activities and maintain labor productivity.

Yassierli also asked the governors, regents, and mayors to encourage companies in their respective regions to provide WFA opportunities on March 16 and 17, 2026.

According to him, this effort is expected to help regulate the flow of public mobility during the Idul Fitri period.

"Therefore, we appeal to the governors, regents, mayors to appeal to all companies to provide opportunities for workers or workers to carry out work from other locations or what is called Work From Anywhere (WFA) on March 16 and 17, 2026," he said.

In addition, the government also encourages the implementation of WFA on March 25, 26, and 27, 2026, taking into account the potential for an increase in the flow of returning pilgrims after the Eid al-Fitr celebration.

However, Yassierli emphasized that the WFA policy is not mandatory for all sectors and exceptions can be given to certain sectors.

"The implementation of WFA can be excluded for certain sectors such as the health sector, hotels, hospitality, shopping centers, manufacturing, food and beverage industries, other essential sectors or those related to production continuity or factories," he concluded.
