Tyson Fury Has Reached Ideal Weight for Clash with Arslanbek Makhmudov
JAKARTA - Former heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has gained ideal weight ahead of his fight against Arslanbek Makhmudov which will mark his return to the boxing ring.
Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov are scheduled to clash in the ring on April 11, 2026. Their fight is likely to be held in Manchester, England.
The Gypsy King has been in Thailand in recent weeks to begin his training camp. He also had to lose a significant amount of weight.
At the latest weigh-in, the 37-year-old fighter weighed 119.2 kilograms or down around 8.1 kilograms from his weight in the second fight against Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024.
"The weight is ideal. Nine weeks later. I'm really going to destroy Arslanbek Makhmudov," Fury said in his latest post on social media Instagram.
Fury added weight to the heaviest in his career for the second fight against Usyk. At that time, his weight reached 127.4 kilograms.
He was able to put up a fight in the fight, but lost by a decision. It was his second consecutive defeat against the Ukrainian champion.
Fury has not been touched since his first duel with Usyk for the undisputed world champion status. The two fought in 12 rounds before he was declared the loser through a split decision.
The Gypsy King then returned to a rematch which also took place in 12 rounds and lost again. After two defeats, he decided to retire for a year before announcing his return earlier this year.
Fury has been linked with a number of big duels after deciding to come down from the mountain. In addition to plans to fight his compatriot Anthony Joshua, he is also eyeing a trilogy against Usyk to complete the revenge.
