Donald Trump Spray Bad Bunny's Appearance at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show
JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump launched a sharp criticism of the appearance of global star from Puerto Rico, Bad Bunny, in the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show.
Through his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump called the Grammy-winning stage performance one of the worst performances in history and did not reflect the noble values of the Uncle Sam's country.
Trump's frustration peaked when he judged that Bad Bunny's narrative and lyrics were difficult for the general audience to understand.
"This Super Bowl halftime show was truly terrible, one of the worst ever! It makes no sense, it is an insult to the greatness of America, and it does not represent our standards of success, creativity, or excellence," Trump wrote, quoted Tuesday, February 10.
"No one understands a word this person says, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young people watching from all over the US and the world," he continued.
Furthermore, Trump emphasized that Bad Bunny's selection as the main performer was a step backwards for the image of the US.
"This show is just a 'slap in the face' to our country that is setting new standards and records every day, including the best stock market and 401(k) (retirement fund) in history!" he added.
Negative sentiments from Trump supporters against Bad Bunny have actually been turbulent since the NFL and Apple Music announced his name in September last year.
Trump's campaign leader, Corey Lewandowski, even openly criticized Bad Bunny for having negative sentiments against the US. He questioned the NFL's reason for choosing an artist who was considered divisive instead of uniting the nation through inclusive music.
Bad Bunny himself is aware of political tensions. His appearance at the Super Bowl is his only stage appearance in the US throughout 2026. He even deliberately skipped the US region in his world tour series titled Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour.
