Sampang Police Prevent the Smuggling of 250 Bottles of Bali Liquor from Sumenep

SAMPANG - The Sampang Police, East Java, thwarted the smuggling of Bali liquor (miras) by a resident in the area.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Sampang Police, Iptu Nur Fajri Alim, said the smuggling attempt was carried out by an individual with the initials MW (23) from Sumenep Regency on January 7, 2026.

"Currently, we are processing the person concerned for further investigation," he said in a press statement quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 10.

Fajri said that the smuggling of Bali liquor was revealed thanks to community information that said there were people who were carrying Bali liquor to Sampang Regency.

In the message conveyed through the whatshApp application, it was stated that Arak Bali was brought to Sampang using a Daihatsu Luxio car with a metallic gray color with the police number N-1014-FG from Bali.

"We then deployed a team, conducted an investigation, according to the information provided to us," he said.

"As a result, the Sampang Police Criminal Investigation Unit did find the car according to the information provided by residents through the short message at the Sampang terminal," he continued.

Officers immediately conducted an inspection and found 12 cartons or 250 bottles of Bali liquor.

"Therefore, we immediately confiscated hundreds of bottles of Bali Arak liquor, along with the car and the driver of the vehicle," said Fajri.

Regarding this incident, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Iptu Nur Fajri Alim said that the active role of the community in providing information about violations of the law to officers is very helpful in enforcing cases of violations of the law.

"With good cooperation, we are confident that various types of violations of the law can be suppressed," he said.
