HPN 2026: Menbud Sentil Disinformasi, "Pers Sehat" Tak Cukup Jadi Slogan

SERANG - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon emphasized that the theme "Healthy Press, Sovereign Economy, Strong Nation" on National Press Day 2026 must be translated into concrete steps to strengthen the media industry.

He assessed that the challenges of the press were getting heavier, especially in the face of disinformation and changes in business models due to the dominance of digital platforms.

The statement was made by Fadli Zon when attending the 2026 HPN commemoration at the Banten Provincial Government Center Area (KP3B), Serang, Banten, Monday, January 9.

According to Fadli, the theme of HPN 2026 contains three interrelated pillars: a healthy press, a sovereign economy, and a strong nation. "This theme emphasizes the three main pillars," he said.

President I Prabowo Subianto was represented by Coordinating Minister for People's Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar. Muhaimin expressed his appreciation to the press, while reminding the public that they not only need fast information, but also accurate, honest, and bring about good direction.

Chairman of the Press Council Komaruddin Hidayat highlighted the shift in the function of the press which is rational, objective, and responsible. He reminded the role of the press as a medium of public education and a gatekeeper of information direction must be maintained so that it is not eroded further.

A number of officials were present, including the Chairman of the MPR Ahmad Muzani; Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid; Minister of Villages and Regional Development Yandri Susanto; Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya; Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning Maruarar Sirait; and Member of the DPR RIAhmad Fauzi.

Also present were Banten Governor Andra Soni, Deputy Governor of Banten Dimyati Natakusumah, Chairman of the MUI of Banten Province A. Bazari Syam, the mayors and regents. There were also representatives of friendly countries, including Malaysian Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching, and ambassadors.

In the 2026 HPN series, the Indonesian Ministry of Culture expressed its commitment to collaborate with the press to document traditions, voice the narrative of national identity, and strengthen Indonesian cultural diplomacy on the world stage.
