HPN 2026: JMSI asks media managers to be protected, the palace gives a warning about hoaks
SERANG - The National Press Day (HPN) 2026 commemoration in Serang, Banten, has emerged with two messages that are equally harsh, namely about protection and about responsibility. The General Chair of the Indonesian Cyber Media Network (JMSI) Teguh Santosa emphasized that the consolidation of organizations is not just an internal matter, but a way to strengthen the commitment to building a healthy and professional press ecosystem - starting from sharing experiences in developing media companies to encouraging the tradition of quality journalistic work and neat management.
The consolidation, said Teguh, Monday, February 9, was achieved through "sharing and caring" - exchanging experiences in the development of media companies. He also said that JMSI encourages the tradition of quality journalistic work and professional corporate management, including appreciating individuals in government institutions and companies that are part of the press ecosystem.
However, Teguh's emphasis on HPN this year is on a point that is often missed, namely media management. He said JMSI contributed an important point in the 2026 Press Council declaration, especially so that media managers are treated as part of the press who must be protected.
Meanwhile, at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi conveyed the Palace's message to HPN that the government hopes the press will continue to advance, be responsible, and become more professional. "Let's have the same responsibility to avoid hoaxes, disinformation, irresponsible news reports that can damage the joints of our nation's life," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Monday, February 9.
HPN 2026 itself took place without the presence of Prabowo Subianto. The President was unable to attend due to a simultaneous agenda. On the same day, Prabowo chaired the TNI-Polri Leadership Meeting (Rapim) at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta.
