Cold Extremes Warning Hits East Coast of the US, Including New York Minus 10 Degrees
JAKARTA - Extreme cold weather is expected to hit the East Coast of the United States (US) which is inhabited by 80 million people.
ABC News reported on Monday, February 9, that extreme cold weather warnings were in effect in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
Several areas in the central Atlantic are also expected to experience heavy snowfall early this week.
The media estimates that areas such as New York, Boston, and Buffalo will experience cold temperatures of up to minus 10 degrees Celsius.
Frostbite on exposed skin can occur in as little as 30 minutes or less in more extreme cold periods.
New York is known to have experienced its coldest winter in more than 20 years.
The last time extreme cold temperatures hit New York until the first week of February 2026 occurred in the winter of 2002-2003.
