200MP camera on Redmi K100 Pro Max and Poco F9 Ultra, ready to make a fuss

JAKARTA - The trend of 200 megapixel cameras seems to be rampant this year. After the previous Xiaomi 18 Pro series was rumored to have a 200MP dual camera, the latest leak says the Redmi K100 series is also getting ready to upgrade, with the possibility of attaching a 200 megapixel sensor to the highest variant.

This information comes from tipster Smart Pikachu, who revealed that a major sub-brand line is aiming for a combination of a 200-megapixel camera and a periscope lens. The hashtags used in the leak point directly to the Redmi K100 series, indicating a significant improvement in the photography sector.

The Redmi K100 series is expected to come in two models, namely the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max, as successors to the Redmi K90 Pro and K90 Pro Max released last year.

As a reminder, the Redmi K90 Pro is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 50-megapixel telephoto. Meanwhile, the Pro Max version carries a more serious configuration with a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto.

If a 200-megapixel camera is really present in this latest generation, then the Redmi K100 Pro Max is considered the most logical candidate to receive it. However, until now, it is still unclear whether the 200MP sensor will serve as the main camera or will be placed on the telephoto periscope lens for long-distance zoom needs with extreme detail.

This leak also immediately dragged the name of Poco. The Redmi K90 Pro Max was previously re-released to the global market with the name Poco F8 Ultra. With the same pattern, the Redmi K100 Pro Max is very likely to be present in the international market as the Poco F9 Ultra.

If this scenario happens, then the Poco F9 Ultra has a great chance of becoming the first Poco smartphone to carry a 200 megapixel camera, a big leap for a brand that has been known for its aggressive performance, but is relatively conservative in the camera sector.

The Poco F9 series itself is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2027. This means that even though this 200MP camera leak is still early, the strategic direction is quite clear: flagship-class cameras are no longer the exclusive domain of super expensive phones.

In short, if the Redmi K100 Pro Max and the Poco F9 Ultra really bring a 200 megapixel sensor, then the competition for flagship killers will be at a higher level. Fast performance alone may no longer be enough, because in 2026 and beyond, large megapixels also become psychological weapons. And yes, the number 200 still sounds very selling
