Minister of Finance Purbaya: Still 41 Percent of JKN PBI Recipients Come from Non-Poor Groups
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa highlighted that there are still serious problems in the accuracy of the target of the National Health Insurance Premium Assistance Program (PBI JKN).
He revealed that around 41 percent of PBI JKN recipients currently come from community groups that are not actually classified as poor.
Purbaya explained that of the total 2026 state budget expenditure, the benefits of which are felt directly by the community, most of it is allocated for vulnerable groups.
He added that around 59 percent of the budget had been enjoyed by the community in desil 1 to 5, which should be the main target of the JKN PBI program.
However, he assessed that there were still PBI JKN recipients who were in desil 6 to 10, namely a group of people with economic conditions that no longer meet the criteria as recipients of health insurance premiums.
"There are still about 41 percent of PBI JKN people who are in desil 6 to 10 who should not be PBI JKN," he said in a consultation meeting with the leadership of the Commission of the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding social security, Monday, February 9.
On the other hand, Purbaya said that in total, around Rp897.6 trillion of the 2026 state budget is expected to flow directly to the community through various programs, including Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), energy subsidies and compensation, People's Business Loans (KUR), and various other social assistance, including PBI JKN which covers 96.8 million participants.
"So it is very clear that the government is biased against the community," he said.
